Not Legal Representation

Good Works Legal Solutions provides governance design, legal literacy, and governance advisory services to nonprofit organizations. We do not provide legal representation.

The information, guidance, frameworks, tools, and materials we provide (whether through consultations, written materials, workshops, cohort programs, or other services) are educational and advisory in nature only. They are not legal advice, and participation in our services does not create an attorney–client relationship.

When You Need an Attorney

If your organization requires legal representation, including litigation, regulatory proceedings, contract negotiation, legal filings, formal legal opinions, or other legal representation, you must retain an attorney licensed to practice in your jurisdiction.

We can help you understand governance issues, identify structural risks, and build systems that support sound decision-making. We cannot represent your organization, provide jurisdiction-specific legal advice, or substitute for licensed legal counsel.

Use of Information

The frameworks, templates, examples, and guidance we provide are intended as general educational resources. Every organization’s circumstances are different. You are responsible for determining how any information applies to your specific situation and for seeking appropriate professional advice when needed.

No Guarantee of Outcomes

While we work diligently to provide high-quality guidance and support, we do not guarantee specific outcomes. Governance work involves judgment, organizational dynamics, and factors beyond our control. Results depend on leadership decisions, implementation, follow-through, and circumstances unique to each organization.

Confidentiality

We treat information you share with us as confidential and proprietary to your organization. As a matter of policy, we do not disclose information you provide without a court order or other lawful process, and only after first notifying you so that you may take appropriate steps to protect your interests.

However, because we do not provide legal representation, communications with us are not protected by attorney–client privilege

We strive to create programs, workshops, webinars, and events that are safe spaces for nonprofit leaders to speak candidly about governance and compliance concerns. While we ask all participants to respect confidentiality, we cannot guarantee that all participants will do so.

We may record virtual meetings or sessions for internal quality improvement and operational purposes. Recordings are not shared externally and are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to meet internal needs.

When participating in group or public forums, please be mindful of confidentiality. Do not include names or identifying details when discussing sensitive matters. Speak generally, and do not disclose information shared with you by legal counsel, as doing so may waive your organization’s attorney–client privilege.
